Re-inspection:
The first re-inspection is a free of charge re- inspection for all except for Water Tankers that are charged every time.

 


2. When can I avoid the busiest times?
Ans.
FAHES working hours that avoid the most popular times are 12:00 - 15:00 (quiet hours)
Demand for the inspection service is greatest between 08:00 - 11:00 (busiest hours) to be avoided to minimize your inconvenience.

3. When is my car due the inspection?
Ans.
Every year after the car is 3 years old and at the same time it is due registration renewal.
The date can be found on the Vehicle Registration Card (Istamara)

4. How much time have I got to do the re-inspection?
Ans.
You have 30 days following the first paid main inspection to complete the inspection cycle. If the car doesn't 'PASS' the technical inspection within 30 days of the first main inspection, the inspection cycle will automatically start again with a fresh new 'first paid main inspection' that will ignore all previously 'PASSED' items and will inspect everything again.

5. How long is the inspection report valid?
Ans.
The Inspection report is valid for 30days to complete the procedure for Traffic Department approval.

6. How much does a re-inspection cost?
Ans.

The first re-inspection is free of charge the second is chargeable at the full normal rate, the subsequent re-inspection payments follow a pattern of 'one paid by one free of charge' if they fall within the 30 day re-inspection cycle that starts at the first paid main inspection.
Note: Water Tankers are a paid re-inspection at 125QR every time.

7. Can I drive if the vehicle has 'FAILED' the inspection?
Ans.
FAHES strongly recommend you don't drive any vehicle with any 'major' safety, legal or environmental defect, to do so knowingly after receiving an inspection report stating 'major defect' could be dangerous or illegal and may invalidate your insurance cover.

8. What documents do I need to bring to the inspection with the vehicle?
Ans.
As well as the vehicle you must bring;
  • The vehicle registration card (istamara) or;
  • Traffic Department official document with the relevant detail or;
  • A good quality clear photo copy of both sides of the vehicle registration card (istamara)
Note: If the vehicle is not registered in the State of Qatar you must bring the;
  • Customs and Import Documents
Important Note: If there is any doubt that you or the vehicle may not be legal and insured to drive don't drive the vehicle but get it transported to the Traffic Department / FAHES for advice.

9. Do I need a reservation?
Ans.
No the inspection service is a fast 'while you wait' service, first come first served for all light vehicles.

Reservations are available for the Heavy Vehicles these are non-refundable cash payments.
Reservations are mandatory for Chassis Stamping and Chassis Plate fitting.

10. I have lost my vehicle registration card (Istamara) can I still get an inspection?
Ans.
YES FAHES can register the vehicle for the inspection process with one of the following;
1. The correct registration card (Istamara) or;

2. A good clear photo copy of both sides of the correct registration card (istamara) or;

3. The official documents issued by the Traffic Department showing the vehicle details (import and customs papers etc.)

11. I have lost my last inspection report can I still get a re-inspection?
Ans.
YES you can purchase a re-printed of a valid report for only 20Qr at the FAHES counter, unfortunately to counteract fraud we can't accept photo copies or similar reproductions of the original report.

12. Will the inspectors mark the defective parts under chassis?
Ans.
YES the inspector will carefully mark the defective parts that need repairing with yellow paint to help your repairer identify the parts where this may be difficult.

Note: If you don't want the defective parts marked please inform our inspection staff in the lane before the inspection starts.

13. What do I need to do to prepare my vehicle?

14. How long does the inspection take?
Ans.
The technical inspection takes approximately 10 minutes for a good condition car.

15. My car is modified will it 'PASS' the inspection?
Ans.
The Traffic Department must give approval for any 'fundamental' changes, alterations or modification from the original manufacturer's design if in doubt ask the TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT offices. 
  • Technically a replacement part or modification that is approved by the Traffic Department that is equal or better than the original manufacturer's standard and that allows the system to perform in a better or very similar way without adversely affecting any aspect of safety or the environment is considered acceptable.

16. My car never had a fire extinguisher from new does it still need one?
Ans.
Yes All cars must have a suitable, complete and effective extinguisher with at least 1kg of dry powder appropriately mounted in an accessible place.
Note: For heavy vehicles the extinguisher must be a 2kg dry powder type.

17. Can you help me with repairing the defects ?
Ans.
Yes Some FAHES centers in response to customer demand now offer a 'Quick Repair Service' that can professionally rectify some simple defects using our trained technicians who will guarantee the repair and complete the re-inspection while-you-wait to save you the hassle and time involved in arranging the repair and re-inspection yourself.
