The Traffic Department must give approval for any 'fundamental' changes, alterations or modification from the original manufacturer's design specification, if in doubt ask the Traffic Department.
Technically a replacement part or modification that is approved by the Traffic Department that is equal or better than the original manufacturer's specification (O.E.M.) and that allows the system to perform in a better or very similar way without adversely affecting any aspect of safety or the environment is considered technically acceptable.
